Horrific details have emerged in the murder case of 55-year-old Veena Jain, who was allegedly killed by her own daughter Rimple in Mumbai’s Lalbaug area. The Mumbai police have now revealed that Rimple poured acid on her mother’s body parts and tried to burn them to dispose of the evidence.
Rimple, who is 25 years old, was taken into custody on March 14 and has been in police custody since. According to officers, the details that have emerged from her interrogation and the search of the house have been chilling.
The police officer in charge of the investigation said that Rimple bought a cutting machine from a hardware store immediately after her mother’s death. She also bought acid, room fresheners, perfume, and phenyl solution from a local medical store. After cutting off her mother’s hands, Rimple put them in a steel tank and poured acid on them. However, when the acid did not work, she waited for four days and then started hacking off even more bits of the body.

Acid and Fire to Dispose of Evidence
Rimple attempted to burn parts of the body when the acid did not work. However, she had to pour water on it, fearing that the fire would attract attention. The police officer revealed that Rimple claims to have picked up ideas from true crime-based television shows. The officers are analyzing her mobile search history to check if she also looked online for ways to dispose of the body.
The decomposing body led Rimple to believe that it would simply disintegrate on its own without leaving a trace or be easier to dispose of. She decided to tell her relatives that her friend had taken her mother to Kanpur for treatment, and she was living comfortably on the money that her uncle provided her every month.
The police have now recovered two knives and a sickle from the house, which are being sent for forensic analysis. Rimple’s friend, a 27-year-old sandwich seller from Uttar Pradesh, was also brought in for questioning on the second straight day to check for any possible involvement in the crime.
