Women Police Officers Triumph Over Robber, Urging Safety for Solo Women Travelers!

Chennai: In a remarkable display of courage and quick thinking, two brave women police officers have successfully nabbed a knife-wielding robber who had been terrorizing women traveling alone on trains to Chennai. The masked assailant, identified as Anandan, had been targeting unsuspecting women, threatening them with a knife, and robbing them of their jewelry and belongings.

The heroic efforts of these lionesses in uniform came to light when a 69-year-old woman, traveling alone on a suburban train from Arakkonam to Chengalpattu, was attacked on October 30 at around 4:30 a.m. The robber, brandishing a knife, demanded money and jewelry from the elderly woman. When she bravely resisted, he cut her hand and forcefully took away her earrings before fleeing the scene. This incident was not isolated; similar attacks had occurred on October 23 and earlier on October 10, involving other middle-aged women on trains between Tirumalpur-Thakkolam and Thakkolam-Arakkonam stations.

Responding to these alarming incidents, a special team was formed under the leadership of real-life DSP Ramesh, reminiscent of the iconic character from the movie Singam, on the orders of Railway ADGP Vanitha. The team included a police inspector and a female police officer who, disguised as ordinary passengers, traveled in trains during the midnight and early morning hours over the past 10 days, wearing traditional attire and a covering chain for safety.Anandan robber chennaiOn the fateful day, their vigilance paid off. The lady police inspector, wearing a chain around her neck, posed as a potential victim, luring the robber into revealing himself. As anticipated, the masked assailant targeted her, not realizing that she was an undercover officer. With remarkable courage, the women police officers confronted the robber, assisted by two railway security personnel, leading to his capture.

The arrest of Anandan was a significant victory for law enforcement, thanks to the bravery and determination of these lionesses of the police force. Their unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of women on trains is commendable and serves as an inspiration to all.

The police have urged women traveling alone to exercise caution, especially if wearing jewelry, and stay vigilant to ensure their safety during their journeys.
